"Sweet Child of Mine"
Amethyst
sends out major congrats to our drummer Eric and his wife Cori on the
birth of their son, Maxwell. Blessings all around, guys!
Eric's
taking some time off to enjoy being a new dad, so we have our friend
Ryan sitting in for the time behind the drum kit for the near future.
Thanks, Ryan!

"Take A Look At Me Now"
It's been
quite a while since we posted a new blog installment, so to relaunch
our regular updates, we've got something special. Almost exactly two
years after our last blog about little Jack Rubin's benefit, we have an
awesome update, courtesy of Kristy.
"Jack came home after 19 months of living in Philadelphia Children’s
Hospital. He has slowly but surely spent the last year building
up his strength, weaning off of his many medications, learning to eat
by mouth, and most importantly, learning how to be a normal 3 year old
boy. He does play dates every week, drives his parents batty with
his normal child behavior, and is nothing but a miracle in perfect form
to his family and friends. He is also very excited at this point
because he is going to be a big brother in early 2011. He remains
the impetus behind many of the Histiocytosis Association of America’s
fundraising efforts and movements, and he touches the hearts of
absolutely everyone he meets."

"There Comes A Time, When You Heed A Certain Call..."
We're back
and recovering from an awesome interstate road trip, and getting ready
for a big event coming up this month on Sunday, July 27th. We'll be
part of the Battle Acts for Jack
benefit, to help Jack Rubin, an 11 month-old diagnosed with
Histiocytosis (LCH). Little Jack has been an inspiration to hundreds of
people to donate to worthy LCH causes, blood drives and platelet
donations. Battle Acts for Jack brings together singers, musicians,
friends and family of Jack’s, along with other members of the community
who just want to help cure this rare disease.
It's a great event for a great cause. Jack's a fighter who needs our
help. Come on out and show your support, and have a great afternoon of
music to go with it. There will be full sets by Dirty Little Secret, Cobrasnake Necktie, Stronger than Dirt, and us, as well as acoustic sets by Susan Lowe and Eryn Shewell.
For full details, go to http://www.myspace.com/battleactsforjack and post a comment.

"You Can Read It In The Sunday Papers..."
We had a great debut last week at the Surf City Hotel, so a double-shot
of thank-you's is in order. First, big thanks to the Sand Paper of
Ocean County, who gave Amethyst a nice writeup in the their recent
issue. (Check it out on our Press page.)
We had a warm welcome not only from the Surf City regulars, but we saw
some familiar faces from Clark's awesome Irish Pub, Molly Maguire's. So
thanks to Tom, Tara and crew for spending some of their "down the shore"
time with us.
Our "Cruel Summer Tour" continues this week. Come see us do it again
for our second and third Fridays at the Surf City Hotel tonight 6/20,
and again next week on 6/27. Hope to see you there!
UPDATE 6/24/2008: Okay, make that two
articles this week! Thanks to the Asbury Park Press for including
Amethyst in their "Leading Ladies rock Long Beach Island" piece. Rock
on, Kristy.
